Arrival in Mbale

This is our first update from Uganda. The team arrived on schedule in Entebbe and was able to rest peacefully at a new hotel. It was a very nice resting place and much appreciated by all. Everyone was ready to worship this morning after breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage links, beans, rolls, and of course pineapple. Zach Florence led us in praise and worship before we took off for Mbale town. The team is settled into the Mt. Elgon Hotel and dinner will be served in about 10 minutes.

We flew down from Amsterdam with the Discovery Bible Church team from Tulsa, OK and upon arrival at Mt. Elgon, we met up with members of the Midland Bible Church team. Fred Lybrand from NE Bible in San Antonio greeted us in the lobby. TBC may recall that Fred preached in 2006 at TBC during our Uganda MEW.

Everyone extends their love for their families and supporters. Tomorrow we will be guest speaking/teaching at two existing Uganda churches to begin our week in ministry.

First leg complete

Friends and family,

The flight from Houston to Amsterdam was uneventful. We are now in Scheopol airport and many of the team is either in a lounge sleeping or the remainder are eating. Yes, it is 2:30am your time but in Amsterdam, the sun is shining bright and it is a beautiful morning. Current time here is 9:30am. Our flight leaves at 11:00 so we are killing time by entering random info on this blog.

Judy said she had "fun" on the first flight and I told her she was in for more fun as we have one more 8 hour flight to Entebbe. We should all be ready for a shower and bed by the time we get there. The airline feeds us at about 6:00pm Houston time and then they start a movie and turn out the cabin lights. It is a good time for a few hours sleep if you can. Everyone seems to be in good spirits and doing well.

We will post again when we get internet access.

Feel free to leave us a comment. BTW, some on the team ran into Discovery Bible church from Tulsa, OK here in the airport. They are on the same flight down to Entebbe with us as they will be planting a church in the Mbale area.
